When he’s not running AHBEEF, you can find Justin Lofton behind the wheel of a desert off-road truck. Next week, Justin takes his experience and talent south of the border for the 37th annual San Felipe 250. Justin will pilot the No. 41 #AHBEEF Ranch Trophy Truck with co-driver, Jack Typrin.
To prepare for the 285.69-mile race, Justin says he, “Stayed with my regular routine of cycling and maybe eating a few more tacos here and there to prepare.” Navigating the desert isn’t an easy task but believe it or not, this is one of the shorter desert races. “San Felipe is unique from the standpoint it is much shorter than the other races on the schedule. You have to be on pace from the minute you leave the line to the finish line,” said Justin.
The race truck isn’t the only thing that needs fueled up for the event. Justin, a three-time Mint 400 winner, and the team will rely on #AHBEEF to fuel them before and during the race. For his pre-race meal, Justin keeps it simple.
“I stick with a pretty simple meal before race time. AHBEEF KC Strip cooked medium, with bone broth rice and a cup of Racer coffee. Protein and carbs. I will eat it the night before and the morning of the race.” As for the team, they’ll be filling up on protein as well. “The Liberation Kitchen in Oak Hills, which serves AHBEEF, is providing ready-made meals for our pre- running days.” Justin continued, “When the crew arrives for the race, we will use whole chuck rolls and
strip loins and cut steaks to cook and serve for the crew members.”
The green flag drops on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 9:00 AM PT. You can follow Justin’s progress at www.SCORE-International.com for live timing and scoring.
